Veripos lands SPO fleet contract

Veripos has been awarded a contract to roll out its vessel positioning services across Swire Pacific Offshore Operations' (SWO) fleet of 80 ships. The deal will see Veripos standardise fleet equipment with LID5-GG2 integrated mobile receivers, and the SPO vessels will utilise Veripos' Apex2 and Ultra2, as well as Apex and Ultra services. Apex2 and Ultra2 were introduced in early 2012, as a means of straddling both the American GPS and Russian Glonass satellite constellations, to offer a greater scope of coverage when attempting vessel positioning, especially when working near obstructive platform structures. Veripos claims that the GPS/Glonass joint coverage offers greater than 100mm positional accuracy. The company also confirms that it will supply future additions to SPO's fleet, which is predicted to grow to the 100-vessel mark by the end of 2015.
