Regulation-too much or too little? In time or too late?

Regulation and the regulatory process within the maritime industry came under scrutiny in May, with proposals from The Marshall Islands to produce carbon emissions targets for the maritime industry being presented to the IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee. The Committee recognised the need to consider the proposals further, but took the view that the priority at this stage should be to continue its current work, in particular, to focus on further reduction of emissions from ships through the finalisation of a data collection system.
