A milestone year for DNV GL

As part of the 150-year celebrations DNV GL explored six 'themes for the future' - as part of its efforts to take a broader view of the relationship between technology, business and society. One of these was 'The Future of Shipping.' In this report DNV GL analysed six technology pathways (low carbon energy, the connected ship, future materials, advanced ship design, efficient shipping) to help the maritime industry achieve three ambitions for 2050: reduce the sectors fatality rates by 90% and reduce fleet-wide CO_2 emissions by 60%, without increasing the costs of shipping.
