Nuclear and carrier programmes adversely skewing spending on equipment

The UK Royal Navy's new Queen Elizabeth class carriers are miracles of engineering and I am full of admiration for the thousands of individuals involved in their design and construction, as I am for the men and women who will serve in the carriers, and those who will, in due course design, build and serve on the UK's next generation of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines.
