SWEEP concept maximizes propulsive potential

Don Burg, the man behind the innovative Ship with Wave Energy Engulfing Propulsors (SWEEP) has provided Warship Technology with more information about the concept. The new ship hull and propulsor concept, which Mr Burg, believes greatly reduce the wave drag of high speed displacement hullforms, is being further developed by Burg and colleagues at SeaSpeed SWEEP Inc in Miami, Florida, and was developed to overcome some of the inherent limitations of conventional displacement hullforms of the type that make up the bulk of modern commercial and naval tonnage.
