Cruiseship customers are increasingly looking for evacuation systems that meet safety requirements, but also do not take up too much space. When Meyer Werft designed AIDA Cruises new 2700 passenger capacity cruise vessels, one of the considerations was that the evacuation system needed to be extremely compact. The resulting design, first seen aboard AIDADiva, but also due to be incorporated in her coming three sisterships, required placing the evacuation systems in a limited space between the liferafts and the cabins' balconies.
