The Port of Singapore Authority Corporation (PSA Corp )'s four seamlessly integrated termi-nals handled an impressive total container throughput of 17.04 million TEU in 2000-a rise of 7.2% compared with 1999. Singapore was again surpassed by Hong Kong SAR's container throughput of 18.1 million TEU-according to the Marine Department, the official throughput figure will be released at the end of March this year. Hong KongSAR and Singapore are well ahead of other international ports in the world league of container throughputs. PSA Corp's chairman Yeo Ning Hong attributed the milestone achievement to "the extensive application of technology, the high productivity of dedicated staff and PSA's close working relationship with shipping lines."
