New shipyard to be run by Keppel in Baku

A new 62ha shipyard in Baku, Azerbaijan, was officially opened on 20 September. The yard is jointly owned and developed by Keppel Offshore & Marine, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC). It was opened by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. llham Aliyev. The new yard is intended to build a range of specialised vessels including subsea vessels, AHTS and multipurpose offshore support vessels such as PSVs, as well as tankers and cargo vessels. It includes repair and conversion capabilities. Although Keppel O&M owns just 10% of the yard, it has full responsibility for management and operation. The largest shareholder, at 65%, is SOCAR.
