HYSHIPS PROJECT EYES 20MW CAPESIZE BULK CARRIER FUEL CELL STUDY

An EU grant of €8 million hasbeen awarded to a projectdeveloping a PEM fuel cellpowered Ro-Ro as part of aliquid hydrogen (LH2) fuel supplychain in Norway.As previously reported byThe Motorship, the project isintended to develop a hydrogendistribution network, establishingthe viability of transporting LH2fuel via zero-emission coastalvessels, and establishing terminalsfor storage and bunkering alongthe Norwegian coast.Green hydrogen will be sourcedfrom the new LH2 productionplant planned at Mongstadoutside Bergen by consortiumparticipants Equinor and AirLiquide, along with a Bergenbasedenergy generator, BKK.
