What a difference six months can make! On 31st July of last year we heard the news that DHL had, against pilots' wishes, recognised The Independent Pilots Federation (IPF) for collective bargaining purposes. We then launched a campaign asking all members to write to IPF to demand their withdrawal and support the right of pilots to choose who represents them. After months of campaigning IPF has withdrawn and DHL has terminated their mutual arrangement in favour of reaching a formal, voluntary recognition agreement with BALPA.rnA memorandum of agreement, 'Roadmap to recognition',-signed between DHL Managing Director, Paul Bishop and BALPA General Secretary, Jim McAuslan - recognises that the events generated a great deal of debate over the rights and wrongs, which had got in the way of dealing with the real issues.The memorandum commits all parties to move forward and get on with the work of building good industrial relations, based on a mutual understanding and respect.
