The Additional Paternity Leave Regulations 2010 (APLR) confer a new right for employee fathers of children born on, or after, 3rd April 2011 to take additional paternity leave of up to 26 weeks. A father will be entitled to APL if he has been continuously employed, for not less than 26 weeks, ending with the relevant week and remains in continuous employment with that employer until the week before the first week of additional leave.
