I saw a doormat in a pilot shop once which read/A pilot and a normal person live here'. At that time I had been living in Florida whilst I attended flight school and was living and socialising amongst scores of other, like-minded 'helicopter hopefuls'. When I took a minute to reflect on this quirky statement, I realised it was absolutely true. This doormat had real wisdom! I don't think any of us chose a career in flying because we're 'normal'. Most of us do it because we are part of a decreasing minority in life who have a dream and won't settle for anything less. We keep moving forwards and try not to look back. Even though training costs a small fortune and initial jobs are extremely hard to come by, once you get that sunny day and the sky isyour own, it all makes sense and you wouldn't trade it with anyone.
