Dark Sky Park Expands... and Gains a New Observatory

The International Dark-Sky Association has announced a further extension to the area of the Galloway Dark Sky Park, the UK's first such facility, established in 2009. The borders of the original International Dark Sky Park have been extended to include the recently finished Scottish Dark Sky Observatory (SDSO) at Craigengillan Estate, Dalmellington. The location of this observatory is strategically placed for access to some of the darkest skies in Scotland, as well as being easily accessible for the majority of Scotland's population, making it the perfect combination to educate the public about the importance for dark skies.
