This month sees the launch of the ILP's Skills Portal, a concept which falls into the 'clever idea, why didn't someone think of it before?' category. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the premise of the portal is to pool together existing education and training resources offered by manufacturers so that a wider audience of younger lighting designers can benefit from .them. Free to use for both members and non-members through the ILP website, it will define commonly required skills and identify where training resources are available.
