Supplying a better solution

In the November 2013 issue of Lighting Journal, Alan Jacques looked at the rising popularity of Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) and some of the consequent issues that faced local authorities. Mention was made of the IDNO workshop at the Glasgow Professional Lighting Summit where representatives of these operators advised that they had become acutely aware of an unintentional consequence of the billing arrangements set up between host distributors and IDNOs when it comes to unmetered supply (UMS) connections. This consequence incurs rising administration costs on all UMS customers - particularly local authorities.
