It may be true to say that most Architects who design office space aim to achieve bright, spacious, airy interiors, but not all Architects and Designers are yet aware of the impact that the Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992 will have on how bright (or otherwise) their future office interiors will appear. The Display Screen Equipment Regulations are the UK enactment of European Directive EC90/270: 1990, and prescribe specific design requirements for all office interiors with Visual Display Terminals (VDTs). Apart from setting ergonomic standards, the DSE 1992 legislates against disturbing reflections on VDT screens caused by the reflected images of bright windows or luminaires.
