摘要

Replicating work in the well-documented domain of illnesses, the MDS results show two dimensions of contrast for both old and young: severity and communicability of disease, while the new GLA techniques show that younger adults emphasize childhood and sexually transmitted diseases while older adults emphasize chronic diseases.Applied to the less explored cultural domain of gendered work, the MDS results again show two dimensions of contrast for both groups: unskilled vs. professional work, and traditionally male vs. female work. However, the GLA results show that the younger cohort emphasize the unskilled-professional contrast in broad terms while the older group shows more refined classifications (domestic employment, entry level commercial work, and professional work). These methods make it possible to detect and characterize meaningful differences in cohort-specific cognition.
