In a year when disinformation and overheated rhetoric threatened the very foundations of the democracy, ELI held firmly to our mission of providing factual, astute analysis and working to strengthen rule of law to protect people, places, and the planet, including through a strong reaffirmation of our deep commitment to environmental justice. Dominant events in 2020 included the COVID-19 pandemic that forced so many activities into virtual platforms, rising protests against racial injustice, and the rampant disinformation that, among other things, led to the 2021 attack on the Capitol by an insurrectionist mob threatening to harm members of Congress doing their work. A difficult year, indeed!
