A new research project is intended to highlight the industry potential of 3D printing and to outline the research needed to make it happen. Five UK universities are among the academic and industrial partners in the €1.2m (£lm) EU-funded project set up to produce a roadmap for expanding the use of additive manufacturing in Europe. 'What you'll be able to see is what potential market opportunities would be interesting, what are the business drivers for those and what are the areas that need to be developed,' research lead for Teesside University Prof Zulfiqur Ali told The Engineer.
