The oil industry has launched a high-decibel attack challenging the longstanding scientific consensus that biofuels are significantly less carbon-intensive than gasoline, with the industry hanging its hat on controversial studies that suggest that biofuels’ long-term greenhouse benefits are significantly reduced by changing land use patterns caused by increasing production of corn, sugar cane and other biofuel feedstocks.
