FERC backs Grid Assurance regulatory treatment proposals

Advancing a recent proposal by a group of utilities to stockpile and develop distribution networks for large transformers, circuit breakers and other critical equipment necessary to repair transmission systems in the wake of natural disasters or physical attacks, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last week approved in part and denied in part petitions by the utilities related to the terms and regulatory treatment of services provided to subscribers.
