Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority and waste company Viridor reached financial closure on their 25-year waste private finance initiative contract in April.rnThe £3.8bn contract is the UK's largest, and will see 1.3 million tonnes of waste treated per year. It involves the construction of five mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) plants.rnViridor was awarded the contract in 2007 (ENDS Report 385, p 22), but struggled to raise the £640m needed to build facilities.
