Durham County Council and Sealane Inshore Ltd have been sentenced after pollution related to bridge repair works killed thousands of fish.rnFailure to follow proper procedures when repairing a bridge has led to a council and its contractor being prosecuted for polluting a tributary of the river Wear in County Durham.rnDurham County Council and civil engineering firm Sealane Inshore Ltd were both charged with causing polluting matter to enter the Bollihope burn, contrary to sections 85(1) and (6) of the Water Resources Act 1991.
