I took over a place that already had a good record as a regulator. It was made very clear they weren't looking for someone to change SEPA's direction, it was someone to help it go in that direction more powerfully and quickly. We had a major reform act in 2014 and the board had done a lot of work on it, so my executive team was pretty hungry just to get on with it. But I needed a bit of time to get to know Scotland and SEPA, so I deliberately spent six months learning.
