Wales approves law to control and collect its own landfill tax

Plans for the devolution of control over landfill tax from Westminster have been approved by the Welsh Assembly. The Tax Collection and Management Bill, passed in March, enables Wales to collect and manage landfill tax as well as stamp duty by April 2018. The two taxes - the first new Welsh taxes in 800 years - will be known as the landfill disposals tax (LDT) and land transaction tax.
