Smart grid needs big change in our distribution network

Networks are forecast to invest £45bn over the next six years to lay the foundations for a smarter energy future. But a truly smart energy system requires a whole-system approach that recognises the vital role of the gas networks, alongside the electricity networks, and considers the interdependencies between power, heat and transport in our low-carbon future.
