摘要

The role and importance of design is undergoing considerable change. Its impact and value in society is gaining prominence, even in areas that we would normally be completely unaware of. When we take into account the complex and often challenging realms of engagement, be it social commitment, emergent global utilization and application through new technological spheres and so forth, we the end-user, practitioner and stakeholder need to reappraise and embrace its multifaceted role as an agent of change in an ever-increasingly complex world. To the practitioner the transcendental nature of design offers considerable opportunities for innovative application and exploration; to the student it could be bewildering and at best contradictory.
