Industrial design has always been a more responsible job than designers are aware of, or admit to. Mass production means everything good and bad is repeated a multitude of times. Even the vernacular designer producing one-offs or limited editions will eventually see his effects multiplied once his designs start trickling down into mainstream. Design in this sense, has always been incredibly social.
