When selecting and installing conveying belts for can washers, dryers and curing ovens, there are a number of variables and considerations which should be looked at-during both the initial installation, and throughout the life of the belts as a regular maintenance checks. The first decision to make is choosing the correct mat. For washers, the industry standard is the flat-wire mat, which has clinched edges to provide increased durability. The 1 inch by 1 inch design offers the maximum open area to minimise the amount of spray deflection, while the half-inch by 1 inch design provides more support and reduces the potential for smaller-diameter cans, and bottle cans, to tip over.
