Hanil Can to set up new bevcan lines

Leading South Korea-based canmaker Hanil Can Co Ltd has signed a letter of intent with Chinese canmaking equipment supplier Suzhou SLAC Precision Equipment for the purchase and installation of two-piece canmaking equipment in a deal valued at RMB340 million (US$53m). The planned location for the equipment, which will be capable of producing more than two billion cans per year, has not been disclosed. Hanil Can makes beverage, food and general line cans, as well as PET bottles. It currently operates from three production facilities in South Korea and claims a market share of more than 50 per cent.
