A-B InBev chief leaves as results bounce back

Carlos Brito, the Brazilian engineer credited with building Anheuser-Busch InBev into world's largest brewer, is to step down. The anticipated announcement came as the brewer reported better-than-expected first-quarter results that indicated it has bounced back from a pandemic decline. Brito, 60, said he wants to step down to pursue other interests, after leading the Belgium-based conglomerate for the past 15 years. His tenure was characterised by multi-billion consolidations and acquisitions, notably of Anheuser-Busch and SAB Miller. Michel Doukeris, president of A-B InBev North America, will take over as chief executive in July when Brito steps down.
