KI825: Crisp Display, Doesn't Always Play Well With Others

When I bought a Bendix/King KI825 in March of 2004, I was a bit naive, having seen it demonstrated only once. I thought it would be a terrific replacement for the mechanical KI525 system I already had in my Baron. The display was nice and clear and for $10,000 or so, the unit was touted as being a "plug and play" replacement for the KI-525. Naturally, with the KI825's ability to use ARINC 429 data from the Garmin GNS480/GNS430 I had, we needed additional wiring to support this.
