Volcanic eruptions and great earthquakes: advanced warning techniques to master the deadly science

This well-presented book relates to the seismo-volcanological work of the Author and his French colleague Dr Claude Blot (rhymes with 'Joe') referred to as 'Master of the Game'. In the 1950s prediction was doubtful because the international lists of earthquakes were so inaccurate. Blot began his work in 1959 but confidence was only possible in 1963 after new seismol-ogical stations were installed in the Islands of Melanesia by Australia, France and Britain. Grover was invited by the then New Hebrides Condominium Government to join Blot and two others in March 1962: firstly to explain why LOPEVI volcano erupted violently without warning to the people who lived there, and then to find a better way of forecasting volcanic eruptions for the future (Ch 5 & 6).
