Capital stuff from the Soane museum, in this exhibition that maps the development and changing meanings of the classical orders, charting the ancient building grammar's early days from Vitruvius' Four Books... to modern iterations that draw on the architectural and cultural mores of the day. The exhibition is aimed to keep both laymen and experts happy, and visitors can get the lowdown on 'national orders' developed in the 18th century by James Adam for Britain and Scotland, as well as the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian classics.
