Best Building in Scotland Award: 11 schemes battle it out for ￡25,000 prize

These are the 11 schemes vying for this year's RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award, the largest cash prize in UK architecture. The Scottish award is now in its ninth year and boasts a ￡25,000 jackpot. Previous winners include Archial's Small Animal Hospital in Glasgow (2009) and EMBT/RMJM's Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh (2005). The judging panel for this year, chaired by Andrew MacMillan, includes RIAS president David Dunbar, Edgar Gonzalez and lighting architect Jonathan Speirs.The prize is funded by the Scottish government and the family of the late Andrew Doolan who founded the award. Gonzalez said: "This year's shortlist exemplifies the immensely strong architectural culture of contemporary Scotland.' The winner will be announced on 19 November 2010.
