Specifying silicone to reduce carbon emissions

The Pinnacle, the UK's first carbon-zero home constructed by a mainstream house builder, has been erected in Basingstoke. Developer Miller Homes specified Dow Corning InstantGlaze window assembly silicone sealant to bond the insulating triple-glazed units to the window sashes and improve energy performance. By transferring the rigidity of the glass to the sash it was possible to use window profiles without steel inserts, reducing the section size, with an improved glass line.
