First, some good news. There are two architects on the Building Regulations Advisory Committee, discussed in this column last week (AJ 03.06.10): Peter Caplehorn, technical director at Scott Brownrigg, and Lynne Sullivan, partner in Sustainable By Design. All power to their elbow.rnI've had some encouraging support for the idea of less planning and more building control. I firmly believe that speed and efficiency (and quality, given appropriate regulations) would be greatly improved. There is no reason why space standards and sustainability measure should not be incorporated into the Building Regs.
