Innovative school architect dies

Oliver Cox, best known for his brilliantly designed primary schools in Hertfordshire, died last month aged 91.rnBorn in Teddington, London, in 1920, Cox joined the Architectural Association in 1937. After qualifying, he was employed by Hertfordshire County Council's shortly after the war, where he worked under David Medd (see obituary,rnAJ 07.05.09) and designed a series of brightly coloured primary schools that went on to become the blueprint for school building and teaching methods nationally.
