摘要

Sheffield is often cited as the 'Greenest City in England', despite its relatively urban setting. Yet many residential developments are far away from allotments and farmers' markets. Bond Bryan Architects (Bruce Raw, Matt Hutton and Phil Grayston) decided to create an urban farm and a marketplace in a 'forgotten space' adjacent to Sheffield Station, bounded by Porter Brook and Sheaf Street. The proposal for the Sheffield City Farm seeks to cultivate a green heart in the city, not only offering residents ready access to fresh produce grown on the urban farm through the outlet of the farmers' market, but also providing a green corridor to link disparate sides of the city with a pedestrian route from the city centre up to the residential areas of Park Hill and Norfolk Park and the new amphitheatre in Sheaf Valley Park.
