Perched in 43rd place, HawkinsBrown has fallen three places since last year. The 24-year-old outfit made the leap of converting from a limited company in the ownership of its founding partners - Roger Hawkins and Russell Brown - into a cooperatively-owned limited liability partnership, also launching a new website this year. Despite education sector cuts, the firm has won planning permission for a £34 million physics laboratory in Oxford and is delivering a student hub for London Southbank University. Transport projects include the design of the Crossrail station at Tottenham Court Road in London.
