london Horden Cherry Lee and Aedas' controversial £500 million housing redevelopment of Robin Hood Gardens in Poplar, east London has cleared two major planning hurdles this week. Both Tower Hamlets Council and the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation approved outline plans for the huge scheme. Known as Blackwall Reach, it will eventually see the demolition of the Alison and Peter Smithson-designed housing estate.
