The Cochrane Building houses the School of Medicine in Cardiff University's Heath Park campus. One of the largest facilities of its kind in the UK, it is home to more than 3,000 students and staff and is a major international centre for medical teaching and research. The brief was to bring together the school's departments in a single location and create an exciting, vibrant place for learning. The previous facilities' age and condition, and a steep increase in student numbers, had led to a shortage of suitable facilities for medical professionals.
