The energy saving trust has recently published a report entitled At Home with Water. The report sheds a light on domestic water use: what devices are used, how they are used and how much water is consumed. Showers are the main use of water in the home. In the UK, we use more than 840 billion litres each year, and spend around £2.3 billion on heating water for showers. The average home uses nearly 350 litres of water every day, despite Building Regulations Part G requiring all new dwellings to achieve a water efficiency standard of 125 litres per person per day. Thus, the big issue when choosing green products for kitchens and bathrooms is water conservation.
