More smoke and mirrors surrounding the future of the long-threatened Preston Bus Station. The latest shenanigans focus on items allegedly deleted from a report prepared by Jacobs for the city council, looking at whether to flatten and replace or retain and refurb the Brutalist BDP-designed icon. According to the Lancashire Evening Press, when Jacobs submitted its draft document in October county hall chiefs 'asked for a section which said the best option was refurbishing the structure to be taken out'. Estimates by the consultancy which claim a revamp would cost a minimum of £17 million -compared with about £8 million for demolition and construction of a new bus station - have also been put under the spotlight.
