Shortlisted designs unveiled in record breaking Helsinki Guggenheim contest

The six schemes shortlisted in the hugely popular contest to design Helsinki's new £100 million Guggenheim Museum were revealed this week. The anonymous contest, organised by Malcolm Reading Consultants for the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, attracted an unprecedented number of entries for an open architectural competition: 1,715 submissions from nearly 80 countries. London-based Asif Khan was the only UK entrant to make the shortlist for the 12,000m~2 waterfront museum in the Finnish capital. He lines up against a diverse list of practices from around the globe.
