Patel Taylor has been appointed to deliver affordable housing as part of the fourth phase of the redevelopment of Battersea Power station, AJ understands. The Malaysian-backed Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) is pushing ahead with the designs just a month after securing planning permission for Frank Gehry and Norman Foster's third phase of the £8 billion scheme. The news comes as pressure mounts on the developer to speed up the delivery of affordable homes at the southwest London site. Campaigners were disappointed by the number of homes set to be delivered in the first phases of the scheme -just three of the first 2,400 flats are earmarked as affordable family homes - and had called the figures 'derisory'. The phasing was agreed in the 2010 planning application after council consultants agreed there would be a negative impact on the development if affordable housing was delivered in the early phases.
