The Republic of Malta has launched a design contest for a new national monument. The £84,000 landmark in the capital Valletta (pictured) will be a symbol of national identity for the Mediterranean island, which became a republic in 1974. Submissions to the two-stage open anonymous contest can be in English or Maltese [Submissions due by 25 April] University College Cork in Ireland is looking for a team to design a 4,000m~2 business centre. The new building on the 16.3ha Cork Science and Innovation Park will feature incubator units alongside tenant space and a café.
