Q Why did you set up Dress for the Weather? A The practice is really a product of the 2008 recession. We had worked collaboratively on a few university projects looking at design in different contexts. The general uncertainty at the time gave us a chance to 'take cover' and develop this into an ethos for practice. Q How is it driving change within the profession? A Dress for the Weather is the idea that roots the way we work in contextual practice and a responsive design process. In relation to change in the profession, we hope we're demonstrating a more nuanced and complex understanding of what is meant by 'context' but also that a layered design process can create space to bring in ideas from other areas.
