In the light of the developing climate emergency, the fact that up to 40 per cent of carbon emissions come from the construction industry means we need to adapt the architecture that we make, and fast. This will involve not just ensuring buildings operate more eff iciently-the main focus of efforts to cut emissions in recent years - but also looking to radically reduce carbon emissions across the whole life cycle of a building.
