Executive Architect of the Year

Glasgow-based jmarchitects scooped this year's Executive Architect of the Year award for its collaboration with New York practice Steven Holl Architects at Maggie's Barts in London. The firms previously worked together on the Reid Building, the new school of design at the Glasgow School of Art, which won the AJ100 Building of the Year award in 2014. Maggie's Barts, a building conceived as a 'vessel within a vessel within a vessel', opened last December. In jmarchitects' presentation to the judges, the special nature of its collaboration with Steven Holl Architects came shining through as a partnership based on good personal relationships and trust.
